Operation & Maintenance
NewPower Energy performs Operation and Maintenance (O&M) services for NewPower Energy’s owned assets and for other owners of power generation plant.
With dedicated teams onsite, NewPower Energy manages and monitors the operational activities of the generation assets to ensure continued and safe asset performance. The maintenance includes routine inspections, evaluation of environmental factors, spare parts management and repairs. The preventative maintenance programme is essential to ensure the efficiency of the plant and to meet all compliance requirements.
NewPower’s Health and Safety Strategy is integral to the O&M capability.
Generation assets in NewPower Energy’s stable include the 35 MW / 35 MWh Rotohiko Battery Energy Storage System (BESS), 4.8 MW Naumai Solar Farm, 33 MW Taiohi Solar Farm and the currently under construction, 12 MW Rangimārie Solar Farm.

Energy Market Participant
NewPower Energy participates in the wholesale electricity market by buying and selling electricity generated from its own assets and other sources.
NewPower’s solar farms and New Zealand’s first utility-scale Battery Energy Storage System (BESS), provide clean, reliable, and flexible energy when it’s needed most. By generating renewable power and storing excess electricity for release during peak demand, we help stabilise the grid, reduce reliance on fossil fuels, and deliver smarter energy solutions. Our market participation ensures that renewable energy is not only produced sustainably but also integrated efficiently to support New Zealand’s transition to a low-carbon future.
