Solar transforming the land

NewPower’s 12.4 MW Rangimārie solar farm is located in Northern Waikato.  The name, meaning “peace and tranquility”, reflects the transformation of the land from a place that used to transfer coal into buckets that fed the now decommissioned Meremere coal-fired power station, to renewable energy generation.

Built by NewPower’s sister company Infratec New Zealand, along with their subcontractors, the solar farm’s fixed-tilt solar panels supply certified renewable energy to WEL Networks.
