The 33MW solar PV Taiohi project is in Northern Waikato. Developed in conjunction with WEL Networks, this project has been designed with best-in-class technology from around the world. Providing energy to the local community and beyond, NewPower sees this as a community-partnering project that will help support the local economy. Commissioned in late 2025, Taiohi is NewPower Energy’s largest solar farm.
The name Taiohi, meaning “youth”, was gifted by Maurea Marae, recognising a shared commitment to supporting rangatahi and a future built on clean energy and partnership.
