NewPower operates a Public Safety Management System that is compliant with NZS 7901:2014 – Electricity and Gas Industries – Safety Management Systems for Public Safety.
We minimise any risks to members of the public by maintaining secure sites to ensure that they are only accessible by authorised persons.

Safety near our Assets
Each of our construction, solar and battery energy storage sites operate within our health, safety and wellbeing system through site specific safety plans.
Our sites are secure to prevent unauthorised entry, minimising the risk of harm to any person from hazards and risks associated with our assets on site.
We control all work activities on site and in proximity to our sites through our work control and permitting processes. If you are planning any building, construction, excavation near our assets, we want to make sure you and others stay safe.
Additionally, if you observe smoke or hear excessive noise arising at our site assets, please contact us on our emergency contact number 0800 800 935.
At the planning and design stages of your project apply for your beforeUdig service plans. The plans you receive can be used to help assess the impacts your project/work may have on our energy connections.
Your project/work may also require a work approval, please apply to the Generation Asset Manager.
